Global Game Jam – Part 1

Greetings from the Global Game Jam! The Savannah competitors have split into five team and are making five very distinct games. The team I am working in is developing a game based on magnets, but mixing it up by having the player control two magnets at once via left and right analog sticks, or WASD and arrow keys. The design process was admitedly rough but we’ve got something we feel pretty strongly about now.

It’s 1:30 am-ish and there aren’t too many people left. Most have gone home to sleep and come back tomorrow morning. My plan is to stay the night, probably take a shower nap tomorrow afternoon. It’s a dirty business, but it’s fun… for the most part.

Not really a whole lot happening right now. I’m developing assets for our magnet game and Tommy’s programming the engine. Randy, Robert, and John went home to sleep, so at this point the goal is to have all the assets finished by morning to put into the engine. Granted the assets will only be in vector form, but I have all of tomorrow to add details in Photoshop. It’s just a matter of getting them in to get the physics correct at this point.

Thinking I’m gonna brew up some java or I may pass out in about an hour. Been here since 3 pm, so ten and a half hours now. Still got more than 37 hours to go. Bring it on.
